India is beautiful, exciting and rich with enchantment — and we will get to all of that — but first I needed to go ahead and get a few of the major downers out of the way first. Sorry.

‼️Please don’t bite my head off or think that this is going to be a series where I shit on India each week — that is far from the case!

But the air quality in the big cities is truly so despicable that it is perhaps the ONLY one of these protestations about India that I feel is truly warranted and could justifiably deter someone from visiting.

🏔️🇳🇵Years earlier, when I was in Nepal trekking in the Himalayas, I encountered similarly poor air quality and got quite sick. Altitude + Air Pollution = 🤮!!

And I remember thinking, “Why do more people who trek Everest not talk about the disgusting air quality?!!”

💰🚁🏔️There were all these very wealthy people who had paid for the fanciest lodgings and had helicopters carrying them to and fro — but the one thing money can’t change is the filthy air. We’re all breathing the same disgusting air.

Same with India, no matter how luxurious your trip or how fancy your accommodations, the air in the big cities is going to suck, and your only recourse is to get yourself to a less afflicted area as quickly as possible. 😳
