Antarctica 002: A Focus on Ice and… a Shopping Withdrawal?

Antarctica

So… anyone who’s ever worked with me, traveled with me (or even just MET me! lol) is probably already aware that I’m a big shopper. 😬

Antarctica: A Shopping Withdrawal?

Even though my primary purpose for being at a given location is usually photography, that doesn’t mean that in the back of my mind, I’m not quietly calculating all the things I need to bring home and breaking away every chance I get to go and hunt for beautiful stuff!!

In fact, my tagline “Bring the World Home” in large part refers to all the beautiful, wonderful, exotic stuff that you can bring back home with you from the places you’ve been, to later incorporate into your landscape or living space.

However, Antarctica posed a problem in this regard: Not only are there hardly any PEOPLE in Antarctica, there certainly isn’t anything to buy! 😆

And so… I kid you not, while I was shooting at the South Pole, my brain really did start trying to shop in the only way it could, with the only thing available to us — the ice!!

I’d find myself comparatively shopping the different ice formations as if I was going to purchase them and bring them home for some reason… maybe a lavish event? 🙄🤦‍♂️

Which is clearly the sign of withdrawals and perhaps, ultimately, of a shopping addiction.

And I’m aware of this!! lol 😝

I’m also now aware of the REAL reason I think outer space has always failed to interest me as a destination— there isn’t anything to shop for there, either!! 😝😂😂
