A Grounding Element Helps Small Bouquets Make a Big Impact!

If you have a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade, here’s a winning combination of annuals that has proven itself year after year:
NEAR DRIFTWOOD
1. Foxtail Fern: This bright green plant adds height and a delightfully unexpected texture.
2. New Guinea Impatiens: To keep them looking their best, we recommend giving these guys plenty of water and never let them dry out.
3+4. Two Shade Begonias: For a shade garden,
you want the ones with light GREEN leaves; the begonias with dark BRONZE leaves prefer full sun.
5. Diamond Frost Euphorbia: If you love the look of white alyssum but find it stops blooming and gets too stringy in your shade bed, try euphorbia instead. It can tolerate a bit more shade!
NEAR BUDDHA
Here I use the exact same combination listed above, but I swap out the Foxtail Fern with a Korean Rock Fern. It’s great that this fern stays compact, but really I just use it here because I think it pairs nicely with my old Buddha head! 🤪
IN BROKEN FOUNTAIN
1. New Guinea Impatiens: Did I mention this is my favorite annual flower?!!
2+3. The Hosta on the far left and the Creeping Jenny spilling over the side are actually both perennials and (usually 🤞) return each spring on their own!
RIVER ROCK TIP:
For your finishing touch, use only medium or large sized river rocks. If you get rocks that are too small, they get all mixed in up your bedding soil and you will hate yourself next planting season! 😝
