Cornet Creek Falls — A Very Short Hike Leads to a Spectacular (Sometimes Frozen!) Waterfall

Telluride, Colorado

Okay... so for this video, I almost feel like I need to have a disclaimer at the end where I talk really fast and list all the possible SIDE EFFECTS of hiking up to Cornet Creek Falls under the wrong conditions! Lol 😝

The hike may be short, true, but it is located along a ridge with a steep drop off along one side. The fall probably wouldn’t kill you, but it would most certainly lead to MUCHO PAIN and perhaps a bit of mild-to-severe disfigurement. 😬
Even in the dead of summer, the hike always demands caution and a watchful eye towards the cliff side. Sometimes even a bit of light scrambling is involved (and I don’t have any video footage of these sections because I’m usually too busy using my hands to keep MYSELF safe and secure! 😜)

But after heavy snowfall, the path along the ridge can become deceptive and legitimately treacherous — and if the trail entrance is roped off with a CLOSED sign, don’t even think about it!
We’ve made the mistake before of assuming they were being overly cautious and were proven wrong. It’s not worth it.
Wet, muddy days are also extremely inadvisable for Cornet Creek Falls, but no worries — the entrance to a much wider, safer (and longer) trail, Jud Wiebe, is mere yards away. Hike that trail instead, and enjoy an equally breathtaking view overlooking downtown Telluride. 🤗
Or, since you’re already right downtown, just go hang out at Steamies! Which is, no, not a gay bar but rather a restaurant that STEAMS THEIR BURGER MEAT. (Which is, possibly, the more upsetting scenario, depending on your disposition. 😜)
