If you are seriously interested in obtaining Vigas or Latillas for your own project, then this video probably raised more questions than it answered! 😝

So let me try to clear up a few things.

While I’m certainly not saying that you definitively won’t be able to find someone near you that possesses these unique carving skills, I’m just telling that I was highly motivated… and still failed. I didn’t want to pay to ship so many heavy objects across the country, so trust me, I tried my damnedest to find someone local.

The closest I ever came was finding guys that were “willing to give it a try.” Admittedly, they’d be taking a stab at carving spiral posts for the very first time, and on my dime.

So, uh… No thanks, lol… I think I’ll pass on that! 😂

I did however try to cut costs on shipping by flying with my partner to Albuquerque, NM, renting a U-Haul there, meeting with Lawrence @americansouthwestcarving personally, and driving that first huge batch of Vigas back to Texas ourselves.

That was all good and great, because Seth and I were able to combine the trip with skiing in Taos and shopping in Santa Fe, but as the demands of building New Moroxico ramped up, driving a U-Haul back and forth wasn’t feasible.

It’s a testament to how great Lawrence was to work with that for subsequent orders, he agreed to drive the additional Vigas and Latillas to Dallas HIMSELF, on a trailer, for much less than they would have cost to ship. Thanks again, buddy! ☺️

So… maybe if you’re nice to him, he might do the same for you, too! 😉 is all I’m saying 😬
