New Moroxico 015: Lights, Part Two

I’ve decided that instead of me explaining it again and again in each and every caption, at this point I’ve made enough videos thot if you’re just tuning in and are wondering what the hell NEW MOROXICO is, well… just watch videos 1-14! 😝

I want to talk about something different.

Visiting The Alhambra in Granada, Spain for the first time was a very surreal and eye-opening experience for me. It felt almost like I’d been there before, as every corner I’d turn was reminiscent of the aesthetic of yet another beloved fantasy film. Once you see it, you can’t UNsee it – so many “original” fantasy worlds borrow heavily and shamelessly from Moorish architecture and culture.

And I have no problem with that!

The unlikely confluence of Islamic, African, and Spanish cultures is so unexpectedly beautiful and otherworldly that it’s no wonder Moorish design has been so influential and ubiquitous in fantasy fiction.

The Alhambra certainly influenced my design choices as well, as I gradually came to terms with the fact that the conceit behind New Moroxico was not as unique as I might have let myself believe— the Moors set a precedent for gorgeously combining seemingly disparate styles over 1,000 years ago!

I didn’t let that stop me, though, and you shouldn’t either! 🤩

If you want to join in on the fun and add a bit of eccentric Moorish eclecticism to your home design, try perusing my favorite lighting website:

Don’t worry, it’s not just Italian style lights, it’s so much more!

Give yourself permission to go over the top, lol…

And remember, More is Moor! 😜😝
