New Moroxico 004: My Atrium
Published December 2, 2025

If youโre just joining my little series, then let me start by clearing up for you that New Moroxico is not a real place. ๐๐
Well hold onโ I meanโฆ I guess itโs real NOW, lol, after I designed it into existenceโฆ but itโs really just the silly name I gave to the house Iโve been working on building for the past 5 years.
The style is one Iโve been cultivating most of my adult life, but it really started to coalesce once I began noticing in my travels that the aesthetics of New Mexico and the American Southwest had a surprising amount in common with many design elements of Morocco, the Middle East, and even India.
I became obsessed with combining these motifs in a cohesive and artful way andโ Iโm not gonna lieโ at times I simply gave in and just allowed the aesthetic to shamelessly devolve into the realm of pure fantasy! ๐คช
Interior designers everywhere are probably groaning in agony! ๐๐๐
But throughout this process, I keep reminding myself to keep things playful and fun, never take my designs too seriously, and above all, to share my happy discoveries (and pitfalls) with anyone who cares to hear about such trivial, fanciful things. ๐
Maybe thatโs you, maybe itโs not. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
But if youโre game, youโll see we have an obscene amount of fun Bringing the World Home and giving this fake, made up place a real heart and tons of soul. ๐
